Damaging exhaust

Damaging exhaust
Ozone, volatile organic compounds (VOC, carbon monoxide and other by-products of the copying and printing process are vented straight into the office environment.

Fuser
Heated paper and toner produce carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, silicon and oil fumes.

Paper dust
The transport of large volumes of paper produces heated paper dust. Scientists have demonstrated, that the dust from paper is “chemical bombs”, carrying up to 70 different chemical residues, exhausted out into the room.

Drums
Drums using impregnated selenium or cadmium produce hazardous gases when heated in the photocopying or the printing process. Ozone is produced under high voltage. Nitrogen oxide is also produced in some machines.

Toner
Heated toner is highly toxic and toner dust is classified as a nuisance (manger ord? dust) (mildly toxic). Symptoms are typically: headache, faintness, nausea, dry membranes, allergy, eczema, throat irritations, itching skin and feelings of dryness.
